Prof. Steven Waslander is a leading expert in autonomous aerial and ground vehicles, with contributions spanning multirotor drones, autonomous driving, SLAM, and multi-robot systems. After earning degrees from Queen’s University and Stanford University, where he developed the pioneering STARMAC quadrotor platform, he founded the Waterloo Autonomous Vehicle Lab (WAVELab) and later the Toronto Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Lab (TRAILab) at UTIAS. His work produced Canada’s first autonomous vehicle to drive on public roads, the Autonomoose, and has been featured widely in national media. An award-winning researcher and educator, he also serves as Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Aerospace and Electronic Systems.
