As Chief of Staff for CIFAR’s AI team, Brent works to ensure that safe and responsible artificial intelligence supports Canadian prosperity and human well-being. A long-time contributor to Canada’s AI ecosystem, he played a key role in designing the Pan-Canadian AI Strategy in 2017, the world’s first national AI strategy. Today, he continues to bridge the gap between strategy, policy, and operations. Brent builds pragmatic solutions for complex challenges, drawing on over a decade of experience at CIFAR to connect the work of researchers, government, and industry. He drives key organizational AI priorities, helps turn vision into reality, and develops strong team bonds.
